What is fat grafting?
Fat grafting or lipomodelling is a surgical process by which fat is removed from one part of the body and transferred to another area for cosmetic reconstruction. This is a common and established technique that helps to smoothen body surfaces, to lessen the effects of scars and to make areas like breasts fuller and rounder. For example, additional fat from areas like thighs, buttocks, abdomen etc. are removed and the same fat is injected in the face or breasts to modify them aesthetically. For people who look forward to getting into an hour glass shape, fat grafting is done in the buttock region and a large volume of fat is transferred during this procedure. It is also ideal for reversing signs of ageing on the face and hands.

What are the advantages of Botox treatment?
Botox treatment is a non-invasive procedure that helps to smoothen wrinkles on your body and is especially effective on the face. Fine lines and wrinkles are formed on the face on areas like forehead, the space between the eyes and near the corners of the eyes. As age advances, the tendency to develop more and more of such wrinkles increases, especially those known as crow’s feet near the corners of the eyes. Botox treatment not only reduces such wrinkles but also slows down the formation of such lines in that area in future.
A certain amount of botulinum toxin is injected into the area with the help of a fine needle, usually without the aid of local anaesthesia. It’s an OPD procedure. The whole process would be over in a few minutes and the person can go about his/her daily routine without much delay. As the injection reduces muscle contraction, it delays the formation of further wrinkles and frown lines. There are no known systemic effects .It needs to be repeated every 4 to 6 months to maintain the effect.
What is Liposuction? What are the different types of Liposuction?
Liposuction is a surgical procedure by which excess and unwanted fat is removed from different areas of the body. Usually done by a plastic surgeon, this process helps to regain good shape and reduce body weight. Most often than not, people prefer this surgery for cosmetic purposes.Liposuction can also be done as part of other cosmetic surgeries like tummy tucks, Face Lifts, breast reduction procedures etc. It is the most common cosmetic procedure performed worldwide.
There are different ways in which a Liposuction can be done.
- UAL or Ultrasound Assisted Liposuction – Here, sound waves help in rupturing the cell walls in the fat molecules and thereby aid easy suction of the liquidized fat.
- Suction Assisted Liposuction – In this process, a thin and hollow tube is inserted under the skin. Fat is loosened manually and sucked out through the tube.
- Power Assisted Liposuction – This technique helps the surgeon to take out fat in an easier and faster way. A mechanical device is connected to the cannula and it moves back and forth to assist the surgeon in the process.
- Laser Assisted Liposuction – Often called Smart Lipo, this technique uses laser beams to rupture the cell walls of fat molecules.
I am facing severe hair loss. Will a PRP Therapy help?
Platelet-rich Plasma Treatment or PRP is a comparatively new branch of regenerative plastic surgery. In this process, blood drawn from the candidate is processed and injected into the scalp to stimulate hair follicles and lead to natural hair growth. The platelet-rich plasma thus injected has the power to increase the size of the hair shaft as it improves blood supply to hair follicles. This also prevents further loss of hair.
The results become quite evident within two to three months of the therapy and leads to growth of hair in terms of length and thickness. Sometimes, the doctor may suggest repeated PRP Treatment every six months for some time, depending on the severity of the case. It is also very important to assess the reason for hair loss. It is found that PRP Therapy is very effective in patients whose hair started thinning due to reasons including stress, accidents, hormonal problems, trauma, pregnancy etc. Even if the person had the problem of hair loss for a long while, this procedure can help up to a great extent to regain hair growth.
As the response to the treatment may differ from person to person, the doctors carefully assess each case and decide on the follow up plan. This is an OPD procedure with minimal pain. No downtime after the procedure.
Is it true that dimples can be created artificially?
Some people are born with a tight connection between the dermis and the muscles on the face, leading to the formation of a dimple or a slight indentation on the skin. Though such natural dimples can be found in different parts of the body such as limbs, abdomen, back etc., an injury may also lead to the formation of a dimple. Facial dimples can be found on the cheeks or chin and those on the cheeks are often considered as a mark of beauty. This can be artificially created through a simple procedure called Dimpleplasty which is an OPD procedure. You could decide on the size, shape and position of the dimple after a discussion with your doctor. After a routine check-up and discussion about your medical history, the date is decided. Local anaesthesia is given to avoid any inconvenience related to pain and a hole is made in the mucosa of the cheek using a surgical instrument. The doctor creates a buccinator or artificial indentation on the cheek. Some fat and a small part of the muscle is removed to get the desired effect. A suture attaches the muscle to the skin and it creates a natural looking dimple on the cheek, which appears when you smile. The good thing is that no scar is visible from the outside.
What is a brow lift? How does it help in improving the beauty of the face?
The eyebrows are situated in a prominent position on the face and reflect our attitude by assisting in facial expressions. Sometimes, the skin on the eyelids and forehead may become loose and clumsy. Some people have sagging eyebrows and some others are born with asymmetrical eyebrows. Ageing can also cause eyebrows to droop down, sometimes covering a some part of the eyes. The space between the eyebrows and eyelashes are reduced considerably as age advances, due to the decrease in elasticity of the skin. This is called brow ptosis. Too much of exposure to the sun or hereditary factors can also lead to this condition. The person tends to look tired or sad because of this. Another vulnerable area when it comes to age related sagging and wrinkles is the position near the temple and beside the corner of the eye. All these could be effectively smoothened through a Brow Lift surgery.
The eyebrows can be raised and fixed through a surgical process. A Brow Lift may also be done as part of other cosmetic surgeries like Eyelid surgery or a Face Lift. This process pulls up the skin, gives support to the concerned areas and corrects the sagging of the skin on the forehead, eyebrows and eyelids. The candidate could flaunt a fresh and pleasing eyes after this procedure.
